Are your 6-8th grade math students getting the challenge they need to be prepared for upper level math in high school? For all the success stories in math classes around the district, here’s a concerning data point (that might be the tip of the iceberg for underserved students): Only 1 DPS African American student passed AB Calculus in 2019. In this session, we’ll show you how to build data-driven ALP's and programming for your math students along with ways to backwards plan from high school math classes through placement tests, aligned courses, etc. Hamilton Middle School doesn't have it all figured out, but it's been sending a good chunk of its students (many undeserved) right into sophomore and even junior high school math classes.
